The Diamond Spire® Gardenia is a stunning addition to any garden, offering beautiful white flowers and a delightful fragrance. This gardenia hybrid is unique due to its distinctive upright, columnar growth habit, which sets it apart from other gardenias. From late spring through fall, it produces single, flat white blossoms with prominent yellow centers and a sweet scent, perfect for cutting and bringing indoors.
This gardenia's narrow, upright shape makes it highly versatile for various landscaping uses. Whether you're looking to create a low hedge, accentuate doorways, or add a centerpiece to a mixed container, its evergreen, glossy, wide leaves provide year-round visual interest, ensuring that your garden remains vibrant and attractive even when the flowers are not in bloom.
The Diamond Spire® Gardenia thrives in subtropical climates and is very hardy in hot temperatures, making it low-maintenance and shade-tolerant. Additionally, the fragrant flowers attract birds and butterflies, adding an extra layer of beauty and life to your garden.
This Gardenia's unique structure and aromatic heavy blooms make it a standout choice to add to your garden. Enjoy the charm and allure of the Diamond Spire® Gardenia today!
Planting: Water your Gardenia before planting, then plant in a spot with full sun to partial shade. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot and plant 1-2" above ground soil level. Then, backfill the hole with the soil. Water deeply to settle, then add more soil if seeded.
Optional: Mulch 1-2" around the plant, avoiding the stem.
Watering: Water once a week, or when the soil is dry about 2" down.
Fertilizing: To help these acid-loving plants, use fertilizer and iron compounds. Add organic matter and mulch instead of cultivating. For gardenias in warm areas, feed them in mid-March and again in late June for extra flowers on everbloomers or faster growth. Avoid fall fertilization to prevent tender growth.
Pruning: Once the flowering season is over, it is recommended to prune the shrubs to eliminate any straggly branches and faded flowers. This will ensure that the shrubs maintain a neat and tidy appearance throughout the year.
