Gorgeous Red Fall Foliage

The Frontier Elm is a distinguished elm variety celebrated for its exceptional fall beauty and resilience. Developed by the U.S. National Arboretum, this hybrid tree is a cross between U. minor and U. parvifolia, embodying the best traits of both parent species.

Experience the Frontier's magnificent foliage as its leaves transform into a mesmerizing reddish-purple and burgundy hue throughout fall. Unlike traditional elms, this variety boasts a remarkably long-lasting display, adding a touch of dramatic color to any landscape.

Resistant to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle, it makes an ideal choice for both residential gardens and urban environments. Whether planted along city streets or nestled in smaller landscapes, this versatile tree thrives while also providing shade.

The elm's small leaves and resistance to disease offer hassle-free maintenance and peace of mind for gardeners of all levels. Add interest to your outdoor space with the Frontier Elm, and let its unmatched foliage enhance your landscape. Grow your Frontier Elm today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting:  Carefully unpack your tree and loosen the roots. Choose an area that receives full sun (up to 6 hours of sunlight a day) and dig a hole twice the width of the root ball.

Set the tree in the hole at ground level and firmly pack the hole with soil. Water to establish.

2. Watering: Water your Frontier Elm more frequently in the first year. Once established, water once a week. To avoid root rot, avoid over-watering or standing water near the base of the tree.
