Unique Blueberry Plant Offers a Cascade of Sweet, Delectable Berries

Imagine picking sweet, juicy blueberries straight from your porch or yard! The Sapphire Cascade is an exceptional, petite plant that thrives in smaller spaces and yields a delicious crop. Ideal for adding to hanging baskets, or for use as a marvelous ground cover, this plant provides year-round delight.

Clusters of ripe berries perched among vibrant green leaves will greet you throughout the late summer and into the early fall. The Sapphire Cascade continues to offer a bounty of color during the winter months, when the foliage turns to a vibrant shade of red.

Measuring no more than 24”, the compact Sapphire Cascade supplies plenty of plump blueberries that are packed with flavor and antioxidants. Ready to begin growing and enjoying your very own berries? Order your Sapphire Cascade today!

About Bushel and Berry®: Bushel and Berry® makes growing fruit at home easy and fun for everyone! Just as delicious as they are beautiful, these edible plants are compact, self-pollinating, and perfect for the patio.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Sapphire Cascade blueberry plant in well-draining, acidic soil with a soil pH of 4.5 to 5.5 for best growth. Ideally, you should check the soil pH levels using a soil pH kit prior to planting the Sapphire Cascade because if the soil pH is not ideal, the plant will fail to grow well or produce berries.

Choose a planting site that is located in full sun. Dig a hole that is twice as large as the plant's root system. Set the plant’s root ball into the hole and fill with soil. Press the soil down around the plant’s roots to firm and remove all air pockets.

Apply a three-inch layer of mulch around the Sapphire Cascade Blueberry plant to inhibit unwanted weed growth and keep the soil moist.

Your Sapphire Cascade Blueberry plant will grow 18 to 24 inches in height and width, so plant no more than one per hanging basket. These plants also do well in large containers, as ground cover, or as accents in a bed. Be sure to plant each Sapphire Cascade at least two feet apart to allow for ample growth.

2. Watering: The Sapphire Cascade blueberry plant does not tolerate drought. It requires moist soil to thrive. Water the plant at least once per week to keep the soil moist. Mulching can help retain soil moisture.

3. Fertilizing: Fertilize the Sapphire Cascade blueberry plant with an acid fertilizer such as those that are commonly used for rhododendrons and azaleas. Follow the directions on the fertilizer’s label for application ratios.

4. Pruning: In late winter prune out any dead branches on your Sapphire Cascade. After harvest, prune non-fruit-bearing branches, leaving new branches to fruit the following season.

5. Pollination: Since this is a self-pollinating variety, you don’t have to add other blueberry varieties unless you want higher-yielding crops.
