The Real Monstera, Not the Fake

Why Monstera Plants?

Heart-shaped, glossy leaves lend a full look to Monstera deliciosa, also known as the Swiss Cheese Plant. The leaves on the plant’s vibrant, robust silhouette develop natural holes, hence its nickname, for a unique, signature touch that sets Monstera apart from other indoor varieties.

Other common names for the Monstera Deliciosa include:

  • Swiss Cheese Plant
  • Cheese Plant
  • Fruit Salad Plant
  • Mexican Breadfruit Plant
  • Ceriman Plant
  • Split Leaf Philodendron

The Monstera is native to tropical rainforests, where its iconic foliage allows the sun to reach the forest floor. Now, you get the exotic look of the tropics in your homescape with your Monstera, which is sized perfectly for the indoors yet still offers vivid color and volume.

And it’s adaptable to indoor conditions, thriving in bright, indirect light, or fluorescent lighting. This, plus the fact that it’s tolerant to missed waterings, means it’s ideal for any grower, from novices and frequent travelers to seasoned plant experts.

Why FastGrowingTrees.com is Better

We've planted and nurtured your Monstera for several months before shipping to ensure you get a healthier look and huge results instantly. Now, your Monstera arrives at your door with an impressive, commanding presence indicative of its tropical origins.

Other nurseries sell Monsteras that aren’t even bred to have the characteristic holes that have put this plant in such high demand. In fact, many sell a relative of the Monstera, the philodendron – when you get your Monstera from Fast Growing Trees, you get the real Monstera…not the philodendron!

We’ve nurtured your Swiss Cheese Plant to perfection, so once it's shipped, the only work for you is finding the perfect location. But don’t wait…these Monsteras go fast. Get the exotic beauty of the popular Monstera today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Your Monstera will grow best in a bright spot with high humidity and moist, well-drained soil. But it will tolerate some low light and direct sunlight on its leaves since it grows indoors. The best place for your Swiss Cheese Plant is near a South-facing window. When you're ready to plant, ensure you select a pot that is approximately 12 to 14 inches in diameter, with proper drainage holes.

FGT Tip: You can place your pot on top of a base with stones to prevent spills and allow for easy moisture containment.

2. Watering: Spritz Monstera leaves with water in the dry winter months or throughout the year if you live in a dry climate, especially since it loves humidity. We also recommend watering your Swiss Cheese Plant once a week – water when the soil is dry at about 2 inches deep, and water until you see it flow from the drainage holes.

3. Fertilizing: Feed your Monstera Plant with a water-soluble fertilizer once in the spring and every month in the summer.

FGT Tip: The leaves of your Monstera may collect dust, so be sure to keep your tree healthy by wiping down the leaves as needed with a dust cloth.
