Planting & Care
1. Planting: Plant in an area with well-drained soil and full to partial sunlight (about 4-6 hours a day.) Plant your holly in a hole twice the size of its root ball. Backfill the hole and lightly mulch.2. Watering: Water frequently during the first year while it gets established. Then, water weekly. If you're unsure of when to water, stick your finger 2-3 inches into the dirt. If it's dry, it's time to water.
3. Fertilizing: Fertilize as needed according to label directions using a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants.
4. Pruning: These hollies are naturally compact and do not require pruning. However, if you wish to shape your shrub, the tight growth accepts shearing well, and pruning may encourage additional burgundy-tinted growth.
