Planting & Care

Planting: Vintage Jade Distyliums can be planted at any time of the year as long as the ground isn't frozen. When planting in the summer, be sure to water deeply an additional time per week. This evergreen shrub can be planted in full sun to part shade and is adaptable to different soils. However, it performs best in moist, well-draining soil. For best results, it is recommended to plant in zones 6b to 9. In cooler zones, it can be grown as a container or patio plant.

Watering: After planting, water deeply 1-2 times per week. Once established, Distylium is drought-tolerant. Water during drought periods for optimal growth and flowering.

Fertilizing: In the spring, it's recommended to fertilize with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer.

Pruning: There is no need for pruning, though this shrub tolerates heavy pruning. Pruning in early spring after flowering has ceased is best.
