1. Planting: Pugster Blue® Butterfly Bushes are small shrubs that need 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. They dislike wet soil and grow well in zones 5-9. These shrubs should be planted with the base slightly higher than the ground and directly into the ground. A spacing of 36 inches is required. They grow best on the East Coast, the Southern Midwest, the West Coast, and the Southern part of Alaska. These fast-growing border flowers should be planted in the spring before winter for acclimation to the climate.
2. Watering: To keep the Pugster Blue® Butterfly Bush looking beautiful, it needs to be watered moderately. Normally, watering it once a week is enough. However, if the weather is very hot or if the plant is in a container, you should water it more frequently so that the soil doesn't dry out.
3. Fertilizing: No additional additives are necessary unless using this shrub in a container. For container use, a lightweight and well-draining potting mix is recommended.
4. Pruning: If you want them to grow better, these bushes will need spring pruning. You should wait until you see new green buds on the plant. Once you see them, prune the plant just above where the new and healthy leaf buds have formed. These dwarf butterfly bushes take time to bloom, usually starting in late June.
